Sandy Bondonno is a qualified senior physiotherapist with a particular interest in sports injury, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. She has completed advanced training in orthopaedic manipulative therapy and continues to integrate both manual therapy and exercise-based approaches in her treatment.
Sandy has found the combination of Physiotherapy, muscle activation and exercise rehabilitation to be extremely effective in the treatment of her client’s injuries and their long-term recovery.
The treatment sessions are individually tailored to the client’s injuries, with considerable time spent on clinical assessment before continuing with the treatment.
Strengthening and rehabilitation from the inside out
Sandy’s highly focused approach to treatment and exercise will take you back to the fundamentals of movement.
By correctly activating muscles and improving joint mobility followed by strengthening and stability exercises, this has the potential for long-term benefits.
Her initial approach involves a clinically based Physiotherapy assessment followed by the development of a graduated rehabilitative exercise program.
This unique combination of individualised Physiotherapy and muscle activation treatments assists in strengthening core muscle groups. The strengthening of muscles is critical for improving movement patterns so that long term benefits are attained.
She also understands that life is busy and will develop individualised programs that fit seamlessly into your daily routine.
Treatment sessions are covered by all major health funds, with HICAPs provided onsite.
Inspired by education and consistent improvement
Sandy has over 35 years’ clinical experience and invests considerable time in professional development to stay up to date with the latest research and techniques. Over the course of her career, she has been team physiotherapist for the South African Men’s Indoor Hockey Team, the South African Men’s and Women’s Rowing Squads, the Wits University rugby teams, and a touring cricket side in Zimbabwe.
Outside the clinic, you might catch her running the coastal paths, whipping up something adventurous in the kitchen, savouring a good whisky, or getting lost in her painting.
I broke my shoulder 10 years ago, and the physio advice I received after surgery left me feeling disheartened — it was just another in-and-out experience. For years I lived with pain and limited movement. I started seeing Sandy after a recommendation, and it’s been a completely different experience. She took the time to really understand my history and the root of the problem, and she genuinely cared about the activities I love to do. By tailoring my treatment around the motions I needed for my sports, Sandy has helped me regain strength and confidence to get back into the things I enjoy most.
Tyson H, PatientI can’t recommend Sandy highly enough. She takes the time to explain everything clearly, which really helps me understand what’s going on in my body and how the treatment is helping. I really value her hands-on approach, as well as the genuine care and attention she puts into each session. She never makes me feel rushed, and I always leave feeling more confident and supported in my recovery.
